The Newman Hall experience is much more than a place to live! That’s why we offer a number of ways you can get involved in our community.
Composed of four student-elected officers and several appointed committee chairs, the Residents’ Club “Exec Board” works to create a positive study and living environment in Newman residences by organizing and promoting service and philanthropic activities, social events, intramural and inter-dorm athletic competitions, and the publication of The Newmanite, the hall yearbook.
The Judicial Board, or J-Board, is a panel of residents who are appointed to review fines and/or punishment in cases of Newman residents who feel that they have been unjustly reprimanded. J-Board members are chosen through an application and interviewing process. Applications are taken at the start of the academic year.
Newman Ambassadors are Newman residents working to further the Mission of the Newman Center through various volunteer and paid positions in the areas of fundraising and public relations/marketing work. Projects may include giving tours, writing for the Via Newman newsletter, making donor phone calls or visits, serving on the student advisory/focus group, assembling mailings, working tailgate events, and much more.
For more information please contact Dave Hazen, Director of Communication and Annual Giving.
All positions for student employees in the hall office and dining room are filled for Spring 2010. If we have any positions become available, we will post the applications on our website and notify students of the opportunities.
The Food Committee will conduct surveys and consult with the dining room manager regarding menus, as well as act as a contact for residents who wish to make suggestions and express their opinions. Watch for them and let them know what you think!
