We are so excited that we do our Move In before anyone else on campus. And that means that we get to enjoy several more days of fun and feeling at home on campus than any other student housing at the University of Illinois!
Welcome Week at Newman Hall begins Saturday, August 12, and continues through Thursday, August 17.
This year, Newman Hall SPARK! is thrilled to present a great lineup of events, tours, and programs to help welcome you home, meet new friends, get to know campus, and get ready for a fantastic year ahead! There are dozens of events, with something for absolutely everyone from games and competitions to arts, socials, and bonfires.
Each day during Welcome Week you’ll find great events all day long like:
- Campus and downtown tours, and a chance to walk your class schedule so you'll know where to go on the first day of classes
- Fantastic social events like Bonfires, the GLOW Party, the Pool Party, and Mocktails Under the Lights,
- Sand Volleyball, Slip N Slide Kickball, Soccer, Basketball, Climbing and more,
- Floor dinners and contests to get to know your RA and floormates,
- Nightly Speed-Friending events, bonfires, and game and movie nights
- Hall-wide tournaments, games, and competitions like the Color War and Newman Olympics

After a full day of Move-In, Parent Welcome sessions, and the Welcome Home Mass and Family Farewell, unwind with the Mocktails Under the Lights.

It's your first full day on campus! Start the day with a campus run or walk, then join us as we explore the Quads, enjoy a movie at Memorial Stadium, play some Sand Volleyball, and so much more!

Get ready for a great day of exploring all that campus has to offer. Start the day with yoga on the Quad, then let's head to ARC then play some Slip N Slide Kickball on the lawn. At night, get ready for the first-ever Newman hall Color War followed by the GLOW PARTY! And that's not all!

Start the day off with a campus coffee walk or explore campus with us on bike. Then we'll help you walk your class schedule. Finish the day with some acai bowls, a Pool Party, and table tennis, and end the night with Trike Races and Capture the Flag!

Let's explore downtown Champaign. Then head back to campus for Bowling at the Illini Union or Ultimate Frisbee on the Quad. But save some energy to battle it out at the Newman Hall Olympics. Plus lots more!

We're closing out Welcome Week with a trip to the Arboretum and CRCE, followed by a lunch crawl down Green Street and Games on the Lawn before the second Family Farewell dinner. The evening ends with the campus-hosted Sights & Sounds and Outdoor Concert events!
