Radiating Resurrection Joy
As we look back on this year’s Feast Week, (October 5-12), we are filled with gratitude for the many ways our community came together to celebrate our patrons—St. John Henry Newman and St. John the Evangelist. What began as an invitation to “learn again how to feast” became a week overflowing with prayer, joy, and renewal in the Risen Lord.
Many of us know well how to fast. Lent teaches us discipline and sacrifice with grace. But Feast Week reminded us of the other side of Christian life—the call to rejoice deeply in the goodness of God, to celebrate the beauty of truth, and to live in the hope of resurrection.
Throughout Feast Week, students and community members gathered for Sunday Mass, outdoor Eucharistic Adoration, a Eucharistic procession through campus, and many opportunities for joyful fellowship that reflected the vibrant faith life at Newman.
Take a look below for snapshots of each day’s celebrations:
Hundreds of students gathered for the opening Mass and processed with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament onto the heart of campus.
Catholic Illini Ambassadors served over 400 cups of iced coffee and created a hangout for the community.
Students gathered at the Yard for our weekly community night and a short talk on how to feast well.
Weekly Wednesday night adoration was taken onto the Main Quad with over 300 students present to adore our Lord. Read More.
