We are so excited that we do our Move-In before anyone else on campus. And that means that we get to enjoy several more days of fun and feeling at home on campus than any other student housing at the University of Illinois!
Each year, Newman Hall SPARK! Presents an amazing lineup of events, tours, and programs to help welcome you home, meet new friends, get to know campus, and get ready for a fantastic year ahead! There are dozens of events, with something for absolutely everyone from games and competitions to arts, socials, and bonfires.
Each day during Welcome Week you’ll find great events all day long like:
- Campus tours, and a chance to walk your class schedule so you'll know where to go on the first day of classes,
- Fantastic social events like the GLOW Party, Bowling at the Union, and Mocktails Under the Lights,
- Campus runs and walks, Crossfit in the Courtyard, or morning stretch on the Quad,
- Volleyball, Games on the Quad, Ultimate Frisbee, Table Tennis and more,
- Crafter-noons making room decs, Tie-Dye on the Terrace, and Paint & Plant,
- Floor dinners to get to know your RA and floormates,
- Hall orientation meetings and room blessings,
- Speed-Friending events, bonfires, and game and movie nights,
- Hall-wide tournaments, games, and competitions like the Newman Olympics and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tourney
After a full day of Move-In, Parent Welcome sessions, and the Welcome Home Mass and Family Farewell, unwind with the Mocktails Under the Lights.

It's your first full day on campus! Start the day with a campus run or walk, explore the Quads, bring some (plant) life to your room at Paint & Plant, team up for Ultimate Frisbee, meet some new people at Speed Friending, and so much more! Then, end the night with the SPARK Launch Luau and a Bonfire!

Get ready for a great day of exploring all that campus has to offer. Start the day with the kickoff to the week-long Scavenger Hunt. Then enjoy a day at ARC by the pool or on the courts, or a crafternoon spent making dorm decs. At night, get ready for the famous Newman Hall GLOW PARTY! And that's not all!

Start the day off discovering campus study spots and secret gems, join the running club for a quick campus jog, or Stations of the CrossFIT in the courtyard. Come bowling at the Union and take on other floors in the Floor vs Floor Dodgeball Tournament or guess the song in Musical BINGO. But save some energy to battle it out at the Newman Hall Olympics!

Choose where you'd like to explore on campus with groups heading out to some of our favorite places to be. Later, enjoy Tie Dye on the Terrace and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament.
